WHAKARONGO.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) WIIA KARON GO, Sept. 16. There was a full attendance at the School Committee meeting held recently, when it was reported that the roll now stands at 62 and the attendance is good. A collection of non-ferrous metals is being made by the children. It was decided to have a- further “working bee” to improve the summer house. A visit was paid the school recently by Inspector Blake.
There was an excellent attendance at the dance held on Saturday night to raise funds for parcels for looal men overseas. The lucky dances were won as follow : Monte Carlo, Miss Speedy and Mr I. Crawford; lucky Gay Gordons, Mrs Eagle. Mrs Morgan and Mrs Setherley gained the prizes in the euchre, while tho consolation prizes went to Mr and Mrs Stern. Mr F. Eagle was M.C.
Miss L. Speedy and Mr N. Speedy have been visiting Wanganui, the former representing the Manawatu Basketball Association and the latter aa a football representative. Miss Vauticr was in charge of the basketball team.
