ASHHURST.
(From Onr Own Correspondent.) ASHHURST, Sept. 16.
At a meeting of the Patriotic Commit tee Mr M. Murphy presided and others present were Mrs Cook, Messrs t\oodroofe N. Muldroek. R. N. Finlay, R. D. Davis, A. Stephens. J. A. McDqncll, F. A. Dunstall, W. N. Brewer and R. A. Jones (secretary). A letter from a Maori concert party offering to assist the committee by putting on a concert at Ashliurst was received. It was decided to await a reply to the -secretary’s letter asking for full particulars. A committee was elected to make the necessary arrangements on receipt of a reply. In reference to the gift parcels for refugees. Mrs R. Cook reported that these had now been sorted and classified and were ready fot dispatch to the Zone E. depot. The offer of Mr McDonell to undertake the arrangements for the dispatch of parcels was accepted and they are to be sent at an early date. It was decided to forward a Christmas cake to each of the local recruits serving in the forces overseas, and this was left to the secretary and Mr Davis to complete.
