CITY BAND CONCERT.
The Palmerston North City Silver Band, under the baton of its new conductor (Mr J. B. Thompson) provided the first of the season’s concerts on Sunday at the band rotunda in the Square. There was a fair attendance of the public and the following programme was rendered: “God Defend New Zealand” (Woods) ; march, “Countersign” (Parrel), fantasia, “Windermere” (Rayner) ; hymn, “Deep Harmony” (Parker) ; euphonium solo, “The Village Blacksmith” (Weiss), soloist, Bandsman Ivan Marshall ; waltz, “The Garden Party” (Greenwood) ; selection, “Scotia” (Seddon) ; march, “Wharton” (Greenwood) j and the National Anthem.
