HOROWHENUA UNION.
Mr IV. C. Hannan presided at a meeting of the Horowhenua Rugby Union. Ordered off in the senior game recently between Shannon and Foxton for allegedly striking an opposing - player J. Newton (Shannon) appeared teforo the committee. After consideration of the circumstances tho player concerned was cautioned. The Shannon Club wrote protesting against their game with Foxton in the final of the senior championship being drawn, and asking that they ho awarded the match. Three grounds .were submitted to substantiate the appeal, but as the usual fee of 10s had not been forwarded with the protest it was ruled to be out of order. In view of the fact that the senior final game between Shannon and Foxton was drawn, it was decided lo replay the match. Should the game bo again drawn Ihe two teams will lx> bracketed with the season’s honours. Tho annual contest for the Rowland Cup between the winning junior teams of the Horowhenua and Manawatu Unions is to be played on September 21 at Palmerston North.
