OBITUARY.
MRS ALICE GILES. • The death occurred on Sunday, September 8, of Mrs Alice Giles, of Rongotca. Born in Surrey, England, she was the eldest daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Wadev, who came to New Zealand in 1882 in the sailing ship Carnatic. At the age of 22 she married Thomas Hilson Giles, who predeceased her over four years ago. After farming in the Marlborough district for a number of years, they came to Fcilding and thence to Rongotca, where they finally settled. In her younger days Mrs Giles took a keen interest in social activities, being of a bright, helpful disposition and very musical. She made many friends, and was loved and respected by all. There arc left to mourn their loss Messrs Norman Gilas (Putararu), Russell John Giles (Rongotca), William Charles Giles (Ohakune), Mrs J. I .Robinson (Tsngiwai), Mrs. O. M. Robinson (Pioton), and Mrs J. W. Dixon (Rongotca); also four brothers, two sisters, seventeen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.— Rongotca correspondent.
