MARKET REPORT.
The Dominion Auctioneering Co., Ltd., report receiving a large yarding of pigs at their usual weekly sale, prices remaining firm at last week’s rates. Poultry wero a little easier in price, but a total clearance was made at the undermentioned rates. Vegetables were in heavy supply, with choice lettuces and pumpkins commanding high prices. They quote as follows :—Pigs: Best wcaners, 30s to 325; modium, 25s to 28s 6d; small, 20s to 245; slips, 30s to 355: stores, heavy, 40s to 495; light, 35s to 395; porkers, heavy, £2 15s to £2 18s to £3 Is; baconei'6, to £3 15s; sows, £2 15s Hoggets, £l 18s 6d. Poultry : Heavy 8.0. hens, 4s to 5s 6d each; best W.L. liens, 3s to 4s o.acli; best W.L. liens, 2s to 4s each; tight hens, 2s 6d to 3s each; ducks, 4s to 5s each; medium, 3« to 3s 9d each; pullets, to 6s 9d each; liens and chicks, to 15s; young ducklings, to Is 4d each; roosters, 2s to 3s each. Produce: Grapefruit, 10s 6d to 12s case; celery, 15s to 17s ease; lettuce, choice, 8s to 10s 6d ease; others, Is to 5s case; cauliflowers, 5s to 8s bog; cabbage, Savoy, 4s 6d to 6s bag; Drumhead, 2s 3d to 4s bag;' spring 2s to 4s 3d case; beetroot, to 6s 3d case; spinach, 4s to 5s 6d case; carrots, 2s to 4s bug; parsnips, Is to 3s 6d bag; rhubarb, 5s to 11s dozen; swedes, 4s to 5s 6d bag; pumpkins, 15s to 18s bag; marrows. 5s 9d case; silver lxwt, 2s dozen; leeks, 2s to 3s case.
Tho potato yield per aero in Tasmania this year is a record. It is estimated that tho 28,000 acios under cultivation will yield more than 1,500,000 bags, or about 105,000 tons. This is equal to nearly five tons an acre.
