RURAL RAKING

Lambing Losses. Cold conditions which have prevailed in mcot\ parts of Hawke’s Bay for the past few days arc not welcomed by farmers, who are in the midst of the lambing period, but report* indicate that losses have been light from this cause. Casualties were confined to lambs born in tho height of sleet and rain storms, which have swept over the high country. Good Spring in the North. Flocks and herds arc in excellent condition throughout the Mangonui County, where, after .an exceptionally _ mild winter, there is already a good showing of spring feed. In tho Kaitaia district the dairying season is almost in full swing. Southward there is similar progress, and an excellent spring is indicated.
