THE WARRIOR’S WAY
Field-Marshal Lord Roberts issued this prayer to all soldiers under his command :
Almighty Father, I have often sinned against Thee. Oh, wash me in the precious blood of the Lamb of Gcd. Fill me with Thy Holy Spirit that I may lead a new life. Spare me to see ■again those whom I love at home, or lit me for Thy presence in peace. Strengthen us to quit ourselves like men in our right and just cause. Keep us faithful unto death, calm in danger, patient in suffering, merciful as well as brave; true to our King and country and colours. If it be Thy will, enable us to win victory for England; but, above all, grant us a better victory over temptation and sin, over life and death, that we may be more than conquerors through Him Mho loved us and laid down His life for us, Jesus our Saviour, the Captain of the Army of God. Amen.
A SOLDIER’S PRAYER
Compiled by Bishop Taylor Smith, K.C.8., Ghaplain-GeneraJ in the last war:
Almighty and Everlasting God, by Whose grace Thy servants are enabled to fight the good fight of faith and ever prove victorious : We humbly beseech Thee so to inspire us, that we may yield our hearts to Thine obedience and exercise our wills on Thy behalf. Help us to think wisely; to speak rightly; to resolve bravely; to act kindly; to live purely. Bless us in body and. soul, and make us a blessing to our comrades Whether at home or abroad, may we ever seek the extension of Thy Kingdom. Let the assurance of Thy Presence save us from sinning; support us in life, and comfort us in death. O Lord our God accept this prayer for Jesus Christ’s sake. Amen.

May 1 not fear man and man’s opinions, but remember that Thou kn.iwest my motives and my thoughts and that Thou wilt be my judge, It. is not in me to be regular, but let me be as much as I can. Let me do to-day’s work to-dav, not postponing; so living in humility, thankfulness and contentment, for Thy Name’s sake.
KEEP LOOKING UP
Keep looking up — The waves that roar around thy feet, Jehovah Jireh will defeat When looking up. ■ Keep looking up — God only knows the way we take; But plain and elear the path He’ll make If we look up. Keep looking up — Though darkness seems to wrap thy soul The light of Light shall fill the whole— When looking up. Keep looking up — When worn, distracted with the fight, Your Captain gives you conquering might, When you look up. Keep looking up — Though all goes wrong and leaves thee sad, The peach of God shall make thee glad, When looking up. Keep looking up— Should death come, fear not the tomb, Your Lord smiles on you 6aying, “Come.” Then still look up. | '
