GLENDINNING IN SEMI-FINALS
The Napier Golf Club’s amateur clianipionsmp tournament .opened at, Waioniki on Thursday 'in dull, cold weather. The bes't gross score in the qualifying rounds was a 70 ‘by E. p. 'loogood, scored in the afternoon, the next best being a 75 by K. S. Glen-, dinning (Manawatu) in the morning. Detailed- results are as follow : Amateur championship.—F. S. loogood (2), 77—70—140; K. Atley (12), 87—82—169; E. l'letclier (5). 87—84—171. . . - With a round of <l, Olendinnmg had the best gvoss score when the first round of the golf championship was played yesterday morning. The second best gross score was a 74 returned by E. S. Toogood (2). and'next to him omne H. M. Elliott (5) with a card of 76. Glendinning also won a hogev match played in conjunction with this morning s round on the count-back from A. L. McLean, both players having finished 2 up.
