RANGIOTU INSTITUTE.
At a meeting of the Rangiotu Women’s Institute Mrs Russell presided. Arrangements were completed for the group meeting. Mrs Russell, on behalf of the members, made the presentation of a crystal rose bowl for Miss Gladys Jepsen. a member who is shortly to be married. Mrs Dymock, of Palmerston North, addressed the meeting, her subject being “A Trip Through the Mediterranean.” Members followed the talk with great interest. The description of London on t'he eve of war and the trip back to New Zealand was most engaging. Competitions resulted: Knitted balaclava. Mrs Russell 1. Mrs Crosbie 2. Mrs Toogood 3; bowl of flowers. Mrs Pea.rce 1, Mrs Board 2, Mrs Cookslev 3; bloom. Mrs Fawcett 1. Mrs Beard-2. Mrs Saywcll 3. The bring and buv stall was well patronised. At the group meeting compet'tions will be: Best arranged bowl of Iceland poppies, knitted balaclava (Air Force), soldier’s fruit cake (recipe given, fioz butter, Boz flour, 4oz sugar, lib fruit, 3 eggs. 1 teaspoon baking powder: cook 14 hours). Miss Grant, federation president, will be the speaker.
