MAGISTRATE’S COURT.

Mr H. P. La wry, S.AI., presided at a sitting of the Alagistrate’s Court yesterday. Robert Wilkinson, mechanic, aged 38, Napier, was charged with the theft of an overcoat valued at £2, the property of F. Pinkney, on September 12. Accused pleaded guilty. Sergeant Alurpliy said accused took the overcoat while under the influence of liquor. Accused was admitted to probation for two years and ordered to take out a prohibition order for that period. John Silvan Beaumont, labourer and cook, aged 21, was charged with assaulting H. B. Webster on September 12. at Palmerston North. Sergeant Murphy said defendant appeared in Court before oil an assault charge. The fine imposed was £5, half of this to go to Webster.
