(To the Editor.) Sir,—Some misunderstanding exists in the public mind regarding the lighting Plane Fund. The Government will send Home up to £IOO,OOO for tins commendable purpose if it bo raised by the public. . ~ Contrary to general belief, the £IOO 000 has not been raised m New Zealand; so far as can be ascertained the following, in round figures, are the anDioximatc amounts contributed. Southland £20,000 Wellington £12,000

£62,000

(The Meat Board’s £30,000 does not rank as part of the £100,000.) The ■ Palmerston North City and Kairanga County share is £2OOO. The commercial travellers from their radio appeal have given £IOOO, which brings the total to £1353, leaving a shortage of £647. - We know citizens really and truly do appreciate the wonderful work of the Air Force, and now’ the position regarding the local fund has become clear they will show it in a practical and tangible w’av by sending in a contribution forthwith, in order that the district may contribute its share of the money that will he sent Home.
