STOCK SALE
AUCTIONEER’S REPORT
A much smaller yarding than usual of store sheep was submitted at Friday s Feilding sale, the Associated Auctioneers report, the entry being comprised chiefly of ewes with lambs at foot, along with a few pens of ewe and wether hoggets. Ihe market again was particularly keen for any lines of breeding ewes with blackface lambs at foot these selling up as high as 22s 3d (all counted), which must he considered highly satisfactory from the vendors’ point of view. A strong sale also was in evidence for any lines of ewe hoggets or wether hoggets submitted, values ior this class of sheep being fully firm on the rates ruling the previous week. lat sheep section: A lighter yarding than usual came’forward in . this section, with the market about on a par with the previous week.' Some extra choice heavy ewes were submitted, these selling up to 32s fid to 33s 6d for small pens of prime sorts. Just one or two pens of prime wethers were submitted and these also met with a ready sale at full market rates.' Hoggets were not in quite as keen demand as was the case last week; nevertheless, a good sale resulted for any prime quality sorts at values possibly slightly easier than was the case at last week’s fixture. Run cattle: A small entry was submitted in this department, just two or three pons of steers coming forward. These created keen attention and sold readily at values considerably up on those ruling at the previous week’s fixture. Fat cattle: A medium entry of fat station co'ws,_ along with one or two pens of bullocks, with the usual entry ot fat cows ex the dairy, met with a keen sale throughout, values in this section again showing a. slight rise on those ruling at the previous week’s 6ale. A light entry of dairy cattle not near- ! ly sufficient to cope with the demand in evidence met with a ready sale through- : out; the sale, when taking into consideration the quality on offer, was probably tho keenest for dairy cows and heifers held in Feilding so far this season. A very small yarding of just medium quality yearling Jersey' heifers met with a sound sale throughout. The usual ottering of boner cows also met with keen competition, good young clean cows being in strong demand for paddock purposes.
