RANGITIKEI.
MARTON. Sept. 12.
At the monthly meeting of the Marton Borough Council, the Mayor (Mr F. Burnell) presided. Arising out of a deputation to a previous council meeting, the gasworks committee presented a report dealing with the making of coke and stating that it was of the opinion that the installation of a crushing plant to meet the requirements of users of special cookere was not warranted. The. following sub-committee was formed _ for the purpose of administering the British children scheme at the request of the Wanganui City Council: flic Mayor, the town clerk (Mr C. C. McDonald), the county clerk, Rev. W. Raine, Rev. T. H. Burton, with power to co-opt the services of the Marton Child Welfare officers, Nurse Gorrie and Mr A. C. M. Parkinson.
