Miss P. AlcDavitt, of College Street, has returned home from a. holiday spent in Wellington. Mrs Darcy, of Hamilton and formerly of Aokautere, is the guest of Mrs Gardner, of Linton Street. Miss Agnes Moncrieff, New Zealand secretary lor the Y.AV.C.A. in China, has arrived at Wellington from Sydney. A vote of sympathy was accorded Mrs • Spall, of Whakarongo, in the death of her husband, when the Palmerston North branch of the W.D.F.U. met yesterday. Miss Cara Hall, the brilliant young Wellington pianist, who has been continuing her musical studies at the Royal College of Music, London, has returned to Wellington. The friends of Mrs W. M. Precklington of “Cartref,” Carnarvon, will regret to learn that she is in a private hospital, having had to undergo, an operation.

Miss B. Rendlc, of Wellington, is visiting Palmerston North on her way to the King Country and Auckland, where she will spend a month’s holidav. ' •

An amusing comedy was performed by members of the Milson Women’s Institute who were the guests of St. David’s Ladies’ Guild this week. The producer was Mrs I l ’. Murphy and the cast consisted of Mesdames Brookfield, D. Babone, and A. A. Graham. Mr and Mrs Adam Vallance, of Sydney, who on August 3 celebrated the 71st anniversary, of their wedding, died within four days of each other. Mrs Vallance died on August 2‘3, at the age of 94, and her husband, who was aged 91 years, and had been blind lor more than 30 years, died on August 27. The death occurred at Stratlord on Tuesday of Mrs Isabcll McAllister, in her 100th year. She had enjoyed good health until recently and appeared to have every prospect of reaching the century in May of next year. Mrs McAllister was born at Greenock, Scotland, and was married before she went to Dunedin in 1875. Her husband died five years afterwards and she had been a widow for 60 years. She is survived by three daughters and one son.
