OBITUARY.
MR E. T. STRAWBRIDGE,
The death, on September 8 at his home, 133 Featlierston Street, of Mr E. T. Strawbridge, aged 76, marked the passing of a well-known and highly respected resident of Feilding in earlier years, and latterly of Palmerston North. • Arriving in New Zealand with Ins parents by the Dallon Tower in 1875, from Devonshire, England, the late Mr Strawbridge spent part of his boyhood in the Wairarapa, later moving to the Halcombe and Feilding districts, where he engaged in road construction contracting and farming. Besides dairying successfully at Makiiio for some time, he was local agent for a bacon company. After coining to Palmerston North the deceased was associated with, the late Messrs Brophy and Mowlem, of Rangitikei Street, as land agent and valuer. Failing health caused him to give up active business some 20 years ago, since when he had lived in comparative retirement. Except for some school committee work, Mr Strawbridge took no part in public life, but was keenly interested in the work of the United Evangelical Church, of which he was a member. The late Mr Strawbridge is survived by his wife, seven sons and five daughters. The sons are Messrs H. T. Strawbridge (Hohsonville), J. Strawbridge (Auckland), H. E. Strawbridge (Katikati) 1 . W. Strawbridge (Devonport), A. IT.. D. ML, and N. S. Strawbridge (all of Palmerston North) and the daughters are Mesdantcs R. Thompson, ,C. G. Browning and B. "Way (all of Palmerston North). P. Howell. (Paraparaumu). and J. Campbell ("Weber, Hawke’s Bay). There are also 27 grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Mrs T. Reid (Carterton) and Mrs F. Waldin (Feilding). Two sisters and two brothers predeceased him.
