Mrs Esther Elizabeth Thomas. whose death occurred at Ilowick/ Auckland, on Tuesday, was well-known in Woodvillc, where Mr Thomas spent many years in business. Mr Thomas belongs to one'of the early pioneer families of this district. Mrs Thomas is survived by her husband and a family of nine children, Messrs Walter. Leslie, Hilton, Raymond, Sydney and James Thomas: and Misses Constance, Essie and Daphne Thomas. Miss.M. Dickens, who is taking up nursing at Pahiatua, was the recipient of a presentation and good wishes at a recent dance. At a recent social evening, at which Mr C. E. do Malmanche was the guest of honour, be was the recipient of a presentation in the form of a pipe, in recognition of the assistance he had given the local Women’s Institute, Mrs N. M. Burnett, making the presentation on behalf of the organisation.
