RANGITIKEI.
MARTON, Sept, 11
At a meeting of the Marton District High School Committee, Mr J. F. R. Wallace presided. Mr R.. W. Atmoro commenced leaching duties at the school at the beginning of the term, taking the place of Mr B. Kendrick, who has been granted military leave. As a result of the visiting committee's report, certain repairs are to he attended to. The headmaster was given authority to purchase books for the secondary reference library. It was decided to purchase certain teaching material and apparatus for the infant room. The report of the headmaster (Dir A. W. Tucker) stated that the attendance was again low through an outbreak of chicken pox. Tho procedure prescribed by the Department of Health continued to be followed. Details of attendance were: Primary roll 342, average attendance 285, percentage 83; secondary roll 107, average attendance 98, per centage 92.
A patriotic shop held on Tuesday realised the* sum of £217 7s which will go to the Patriotic Committoe’s fund for rehabilitation of returning soldiers and general purposes,, including recreation facilities.
