CENTRAL SCHOOL.
STAFF CHANGES PENDING
At a meeting of the Central School Committee, last evening, Dir DV. G. Black presided. Dir Black was nominated as the committee’s representative oil the provisional committee of the Intermediate School. The headmaster (Dir E. Barv) in his report stated that the school closed the lust term with a roll of 725. The average attendance fur the term was 671, showing that there was a daily average of 54 absentees. The roll number was now 746. At the beginning of this term 28 children were admitted and seven withdrawn. Dliss E. Carson was acting as relieving assistant in place of Dt iss Mclntosh, who had taken up a position at Toko.maru. Messrs K. M. White and A. F. Budd hacl received appointments at the Intermediate School and would resign from the Central School as from January 31. Dir R. 'J'. Familton had received notice to report to the military authorities towards the end of September. The school’s medical officer, in conjunction with the medical officer of health, was making preparations for treatment to be given to children 1 as a protection against diphtheria. Consent forms had been issued to parents concerned and only a very small percentage of parents had refused to the carrying out of the treatment.
