EXTRACTS FROM “STANDARD.” SEPTEMBER 12, 1910. A new fire brigade station was opened at Feilding by Hon. D. Buddo (Minister of ' Internal Affairs). The examination of the Rotorua waters for the presence ot radium, which Drs Endlctsbcrger and Bertram had been making, had convinced them that several of the thermal springs gave evidence of being highly radio-active. It was officially anounecd that the British Government, from motives of friendliness, would not claim damages for loss by fire at its pavilion at the Brussels Exhibition. The Brussels paper Etoilc Beige stated that military circles in Paris were perlurbcd at the construction of the Malmedy-Stavc-lot railway, which was not justified commercially, brought the vast German camp at Elscriborn into direct communication with Belgium. , Gama, an Indian, and Zbysko, the Galician, had a “terrible” wrestling match at tho London Stadium, lit was stopped after 160 minutes, no fall having taken place, j The Kaiser was present at the German Army manoeuvres in which 90,000 men took part. The main feature was the attacking of fortified positions in tho field, similar to engagements in the Russo-Japancso war.
