Tho intcrhouso basketball competitions were continued this week and some interesting games resulted. In the ladies’ A grade the position of the leading teams is unchanged. The ladies’ B grade provided a surprise. Bovis, one of the smallest teams, beat P.D.C., one of the biggest teams, and spoilt the latter’s chances of winning tho grade. . On Saturday a men's team from tho Wellington Y.M.C.A. played the Manawatu team at Palmerston North. A fast, highscoring game ended in favour of the heme team 27—21. The teams were: Manawatu : W. Allen (captain), B. Corlctt, J. Burnout, H. Lang, K. Metcalfe, R. Cowburn (reserve). Wellington: H. Piper (captain), W. Cronin, D. Niven, J. Thomas. T. Boyd, R. Halcrow (reserve). Cronin was for a time a member of the Palmerston North Y.M.C.A. and showed great promise a couple of years ago. Bhunont won the opening jump, but tho visitors gained possession and fast combined play ended with Cronin slipping the .defence and scoring a neat goal off the blackboard. Manawatu came away smartly from the throw-out and moved in to attack where Allen, coming across court, accepted from Corlett and found tho basket, making tho score even. Play went up and down the court with great, speed of attack and cou'nter-attack, interceptions by both sides being spectacular,. and from one of these Allen placed bis side in front. In tho last quarter, Allen replaced Metcalfe in the Manawatu team, and Thomas replaced Halcrow in the Wellington side.
