LEAGUE OF MOTHERS.

Yesterday afternoon the Palmerston North League of Mothers held a successful social in the Congregational Church schoolroom in aid of"the soldiers’ parcel fund, the sum of £3 11s being raised. The organisation was in the hands of Mesdames A. McPherson (president), R. J. Mclver, and 0. Christiansen. Items were given by the league choir, conducted by Mrs Christiansen and accompanied by Mrs C. Grover; Miss 0. Stidolph, recital ion; Mrs Grover, pianoforte, solo;. Mesdames J.. Whitehead and J. C. Riddle, pianoforte duet: Mrs Chittenden, violin solo; and Mrs Bird, vocal solo. A plev was presented hv Mesdames M. E. Koberstein, F. Gafley. Waugh._ Moxon, and, Garner, the producer being Mrs Holmes. A musical competition was conducted by Mesdames McPherson and Christiansen and was won by Miss Barsanti.
