Mrs W. J. Scammcll, of Roseneath, Wellington, is the guest of her sister, Mrs M. Clout, of Church Street. Mrs A. Archer, of Taihape, is spending a holiday with her sister, Mrs ItJ. Mclver, of llangitane Street. A vote of sympathy was accorded Mrs W. E. Andersen, in the deaths of her two brothers, at the meeting of St. David’s Ladies’ Guild yesterday afternoon.
Mrs J. E. Vernon, who has been visiting Dr and Mrs T. R. Vernon, of Grey Street, will leave to-morrow lor Dunedin, where she will stay with her sister, Miss Somerville, of Anderson’s Ray.
Mrs S. G. Northey has received word from Mr H. M. Scott, director of the Palmerston North Technical School, that the students have decided to allocate £25 from the proceeds of their recent Daffodil Day to the soldiers’ Christmas parcel fund. There was a good attendance at the Red Cross Society social committee’s monthly dance, in the Cosmopolitan Hall, last evening. Mr R. P. Nelly carried out the duties of M.C. Spotlight and novelty dance were enjoyed. A professional orchestra supplied excellent music, and an extra was played by Mr S. Eabbitts.
