(To the Editor.) Sir,—Your report of the harrier race run in Feilding last Saturday says McCardle missed the trail which robbed him of victory. This statement is not true. McCardle had a lead, of 60 yards on F. Hill and Lamberton when they came to the Halcombc road, and after one mile these two runners caught McCardle and the three of them kept together till they came to Camden Street, where Hill ran to the front followed by Lamberton, McCardle being well beaten into third place.—l am, etc., FAIR PLAY.
