W.D.F.U.

The monthly meeting of the W.D.F.U. was held in the Parish Hall on Monday afternoon, Mrs J. M. Graham presiding. Apologies for absence were received from .Mesdames Pr.vdc, Wnrnoek, T. A. B. Sinclair, Mitchell, -J. O'Neil, Munro, Rieli-

ards, F. Williams and Miss Martin. The appeal for Christmas parcels met •with liberal donations and votes of thanks were accorded Mesdames Rhodes, Lyon, Bolton. Ball, Whillans, Oxenham, Graham, Munro, Miss’ Hughes and Messrs Munro and Ball. An appeal for the fighter plane fund sponsored by the W.D F.U. was also liberally supported. It was decided to hold the annual birthday party, in November. The monthly competition (bowl of spring flowers) was won by Mrs Hume. Miss Mitchell being second. Mrs W. Galbraith acted as judge and Mrs Martin a 6 steward. A musical monologue was given by Mrs Orr, who had to respond to an encore. The items were much appreciated! Mrs Galbraith acted as accompaniste. The usual appeal for the leper fund was made. The parcel committee were asked to meet at the institute hall to make up the Christmas parcels for the troops. Votes of thanks were accorded Mesdames Burcher, Holland and Miss Fraser (hostesses). Mrs Orr, Mrs Galbraith and Mis. Martin for assisting
