WAR COUNCIL PLAN
GOVERNMENT ADAMANT. NEXT MOVE AWAITED. (By Telegraph.—Special to Standard.) WELLINGTON, June 10. No further, steps appear to have been taken during the week-end regarding political co-operfttion in the war effort. Friday’s statements by. the leaders in Parliament showed a . complete deadlock with the Opposition regarding the War Council plan, Hon. P. Fraser persisting that the way was still open for a solution. The Prime Minister’s declaration that the situation must be cleared by Wednesday raises a suggestion that the Government, despite the Opposition s disinclination to nominate members for the War Council, will proceed along these lines. Neither side has held a caucus since the House adjourned. Hon. A. Hamilton will be away till Wednesday; it is, therefore, evident that the Government is being left to take the next decisive move.
