COUNT VON LUCKNER.

(To the Editor.) Sir, —I read in the “Standard” of last night’s date that official confirmation had been obtained in Canberra proving that Count von Luckner on his sea roving missions round our coasts was really on a spying mission, and that most of the people who attended' his parties, especially at Darlinghurst and King’s Cross, Sydney, were now in concentration camps. I am glad to hear that. But I would be delighted to hear or read in the columns of your paper that people who attended Jiis parties in Palmerston North were also asked to give an explanation. Being a Scotchman, I may be a little , suspicious, but a Scotchman is never suspicious without cause. Is there no one in this fair city who has a word to write about this, or are, they all content to remain dormant until it is too late. Major-General C. H. Brand, in a speech in Melbourne, said, inter alia: “Count Felix von Luckner, though a courageous seaman and h fine gentleman, at times; . . . ” The words “at times” remind me of a'.n address given to us by our colonel before we took Beaumont Hamel. His words were: “Remember men, there is only one good German, and he is a dead one. T will continue to scan the columns of your paper looking for the news telling me all von Buckner’s friends are behind barbed wire.—l am, etc., BLACK WATCH.
