WAR REGULATIONS.
APPEARANCE SHORTLY. CONSCRIPTION POLICY. WELLINGTON, June 11. Regulations under the “all-in” war legislation passed 10 days ago are now being considered by Cabinet, and it is likely that some will be issued within the next few days. In view of the sweeping powers contained in the emergency legislation, the nature of the regulations cannot be forecast, but conferences have been taking place between Ministers, senior Army officers, and officials of the man-power organisation. Though the Act gives the Government power to introduce conscription of both wealth and man-power, it is not thought that this will be done immediately. The mobilisation camps are absorbing as many men as they can at the present time, and enlistments >are considered by the Government to be satisfactory-. \ - , Cabinet met at the week-end, . and again yesterday afternoon and last night, when, it is understood, proposed regulations were discussed in detail. A caucus of the'Government Party has been called for to ; night, and it is possible that any action contemplated will be referred to the members before it is actually taken. Another subject for discussion there, will undoubtedly be the question of participation by the Opposition in directing the Dominion’s war effort.
