METHODIST CHURCH

ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS. Special services were held in the Methodist Church, on Sunday, when, the 64th anniversary of the church in Feilding was observed. Rev. W- T. Blight was the preacher at all services, and at each there was a very large attendance. The offertory was devoted to the jubilee building fund, and at the anniversary social the amount received will be announced. It is anticipated that the offering will be more than sufficient to liquidate the indebtedness in connection with the jubilee building. The choir rendered appropriate numbers under the direction of Mr A. R. Shelton, while in the evening Miss Blanchette and Mr Alan Taylor sang a duet. Anthems rendered by the choir on Sunday , included the well-known “Break Forth Into Joy.” Tn connection with the 64th anniversary celebrations of the Methodist Church over the week-end it was announced iat a social gathering, last night, that the offertory on Sunday amounted to £134 13s 7d, while the young people and the Sunday school 6taff contributed to a collection amounting to £2Ol 3s 9d. Last evening's function produced a further £136 9s, bringing tlie grand total up to £472. This amount,’ plus £SO collected earlier i.n the year, is sufficient to complete the payments on the jubilee Sunday school. Mr T. S. Goldsmith presented the financial statement and Hon. J. G. Clobbe, M.P., who at one time was superintendent of the Sunday school, offered his congratulations on the effort to liquidate the indebtedness in connection with the new Sunday school. Mr C. F. Taylor (present superintendent) also spoke in eulogistic terms of the magnificent response, and expressed his appreciation of the wholehearted co-operation of the staff. A very interesting address was given by Rev. C. Eaton, of Palmerston North. Items were rendered by the choir, and a duet by Miss Blanchette and Mr C. V. Guy.
