EVACUATION TO BEGIN.
CHILDREN IN GREATER LONDON (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, June 9. In the last three weeks more than 50,000 children have been evacuated from towns on the East Coast and in the Medway area. It will be recalled that the Government recently asked parents in the evacuation areas to register their children whom they desired to be evacuated as soon as the. Government deemed the situation required such a move. The Government has now decided that evacuation of children from Greater London shall take place on Thursday. The movement proposed will involve some 120,000 children, and will take six days to complete. The children will go to the west of London, the great majority of them to Cornwall, Devonshire, Somerset and Wales. Greater London extends well into t.lie counties of Kent, Essex, Middlesex and Surrey, and into Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire, roughly in a radius of ' 15 miles from Charing Cross. Its population in the 1931 census was 8,202,818. ■
