ARMY APPOINTMENTS.
HOME DEFENCE OFFICERS. RUGBY, June 8. The War Office announces that the King has approved the following appointments consequent on the increasing importance of home defence, which has introduced an operational as well as administrative aspect mto the duties of the General Officers Comm'anding-in-Chief the Home Comm General Sir Robert Gordon Finlayson to be General Officer Command-ing-in-Chief the Western Command, vice General Sir Henry C. Jackson. Lieutenant-General Sir Ronald Jl. Adam to be General Officer Command-ino--in-Chief the Northern Command, vice General Sir William H. Bartholo-mMaior-General H. C. B. Wemyes to be Adjutant-General to the Forces with the acting rank' of lieutenantgeneral, vice Sir Robert Finlayson. Before his appointment as Adju-tant-General nearly a year ago General Finlayson was General Officer Commanding-in-Chief the British troops in Egypt. Lieutenant-General Adam has recently been in f om ™ an , c of a corps of the B.E.F. The Western Command vacancy, temporarily filled by the return from retired pay of General Jackson, was created by the appointment of Lieutenant-Gen-eral Hajning as Vice-Chief of the Imperial General Staff.
