ST. JOHN AMBULANCE.
CADET DIVISION. When the members of the St. John Ambulance Cadet Division paraded recently, a number of senior cadets held a short meeting to decide which examinations they wished to sit for in the future. There are 16 subjects to choose from; a cadet passing four examinations gets a proficiency badge; if he passes another four he gets a further badge, while if he passes four more, a total of twelve, lie receives a Grand Prior’s badge. The remaining cadets received practical instruction in bandaging, and a number of public duties were arranged. This week’s don’ts.—(l) Don’t leave the treatment of shock till the last when a person is suffering from severe crushes, abdominal injuries, or burns; treat shock first. (2) Don’t give alcholic stimulants to a person suffering from shock. (3) Don’t apply smelling salts to the nose in cases of head injury.
