EXCHANGE CONTROL.
JVIEASURES COMMENDED. ' (British Official Wireless.) Received June 10 9.50 a.m. RUGBY, June 9. The measures which the Treasury announced oil Friday further to restrict the market in free sterling have been well received in financial quarters. The announcement had been anticipated in tfie city, where action on these lines has been favoured for some time. It is suggested that the free market will now be so curtailed as to cease to have any importance. It has repeatedly been emphasised in official quarters recently that the movements in the tree rate had no real significance, as the bulk of transactions were mecessarily conducted at the official rate. The tightening of control is particularly welcomed as attaining a maximum return to Britain from the great efforts the export in-, dustries have made in recent months.
