Turner, 92 —17—75. PALMERSTON NORTH CLUB. F. W. AVARD BREAKS RECORD. During the week-end the Palmerston North Club members played the June bogey round on a very heavy course. The best -cards were: C. R. Ward. 1 up- E. J. Astin, J. M. Ramsay, square; F. AA T . AVard. P. B. Hutchins, D. J. Tottman, R. Mace. J. Kearns, 1 down; C. E. Cusdin, 2 down; L. Seymour, A. AV. Chapman, D. Comerford, A. B. AVard, 3 down. AVitli a brilliant round of 71, F. AAL AVard broke the record for the Awatapu course on Saturday afternoon by two strokes. The links were very heavy as a result of the recent rain and AVard finished his record-breaking round in the dark and' a fog.- Tt. was stated 111 at when he teed up his ball on the seventeenth tee the green could not be discerned through tlie fog. Similar conditions also prevailed at the last hole. The highlight of the round was that AVard scored four birdies in succession from the eleventh hole.
