Spectators at Johnston Park, Feilding, were thrilled with the senior match between University and Feilding when, after an. exciting struggle, the latter drew level. The teams were:l. 1 eliding.—Pollard, Gone, Wilson,. Germer, Williams, Thompson, Grey, Sullivan, Scott, Pye, Miles, .Nicholson, Garlick, Abbott. University.—Herbert, Bowler, Sellers, Pearce, Stewart, Land, Smith, Green, Wallace, Grey, McLaren, Carter, Seeley, Johnson, Bowles. Pye scored Fcilding’s first three points with a penalty goal which followed an attack by Feilding early in the game. This was succeeded by another forward movement which resulted in Garlick penetrating and scoring on the far side. Pye was unsuccessful with the/ kick. Bepeated attacks by University told when Feilding suffered a penalty and McLaren sent the hall between the uprights. Utilising all their strength Feilding penetrated deeply hut Herbert forced down when Thompson and Wilson made an effort to score and the defenders launched a strong counter-attack which ended in Sellers getting through to score. McLaren converted. A successful penalty kick by Pye put Feilding one point ahead'. In the second spell Feilding withstood a series of hard drives until a long pass from the side connected with Bowler, who got over for a try wide out. McLaren’s kick succeeded. Feilding counter-attacked and succeeded in getting into University territory, where the defenders were penalised and a serum* in front of the goal took place. The ball,came out to Thompson, who promptly sent it over for a field goal. His effort .'was warmly applauded and a few seconds later the game ended with the final score: Feilding 13, University 13. The referee was Mr J. Burgess.
