FOXTON, June 9. ,Mr N. H. Tunnicliffe, who has succeeded Mr T. Kane as headmaster of the Foxton District High School, was welcomed by the chairman (Mr H. A. Ilannay) at a meeting of the High School Committee The Wanganui Education Board advised that a revision of the facilities for the storage of coke would be undertaken shortly. The recommendations of the sub-committee on the facilities for the cleansing of the milk bottles were adopted. The headmaster reported that six of the eight candidates for matricula-/' tion had been successful. Members expressed satisfaction at this result, it being decided to send letters of appreciation to Mr Kane, the former headmaster, and to members of the staff of the secondary department. Attention was drawn in the report' to the inadequate heating facilities at the primary school, and the committee agreed to make strong representations to the Education Board in this matter. Messrs E. Titcombe and D. D. McKenzie were appointed visitors. At a social afternoon held by the All Saints’ Guild songs were sung by Mrs R. Robinson, Mrs R. N. -Spiers being accompanist. The hostesses were Mesdames G. B. Stote-Blandy, W. E. Barber, F. C. Raikes, E. W. Thane, F. Procter and Misses Thomas and E. Barber. Miss Jean Francis. of Ravensw'orth Place, is an. inmate of the Palmerston North Hospital. Mr W. Scott, of the Post Office staff, is on annual' leave. Mrs C. T. Davis has returned to Dannevirke.;. after spending a holiday with her parents,' Mr and Mrs F. J. Carmont, of Johnston Street.
