WOODVILLE & DISTRICT
RUGBY FOOTBALL. By drawing—6 points each—with Konini who hold second position in the Bush Rugby Union’s championship table, Woodville maintained third position in - the competition on Saturday. The match was one of the most exciting seen in Pahiatua for some time. Played on a sodden ground, the game developed into • a solid forward struggle, the highlight of which was Woodville’s determined last-minute effort to gain the victory. Konini fielded a strong pack which held the advantage both in the tight and in the loose. Though not given many opportunities, the Woodville backs showed superiority over their opponents. Woodville were without the services of their best first five-eighth (Le Bas), while the ex-All Black (Mahoney) was unable to turn out for Konini. V t Rossiter again proved the mainstay of the Woodville side. He scored all 'Woodville’s points, turning two penalties to account with magnificent kiclts. Bolton was safe at full-back and Burlace a useful wing-three-quarter, .while Eddy, Dooney and McNeil also played surprisingly good football. Konini’s points come from a try by B. Smith and a penalty goal kicked by Hirst. The teams were:— Woodville.—G. S. Bolton, A. Skittrap, W. Burlace, J. Dooney, E. McNeil, F. Rossiter, L. Eddy, P. Miller, C. Rosyth, M. Vowell, B. Giles, F.
