PROMOTED ANP DECORATED. Per Press Association. WANGANUI, June i. Flying-Officer. Alan Deere, of Wanganu'i, a fighter pilot, has been awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and has been promoted to Plight-Lieuten-ant. Advice to this effect was received by his parents in a cablegram horn lU The exploit for which he was decorated was not mentioned, but is presumed to have taken place either in the evacuation from Dunkirk or ill lighting on the Somme front. P Ilglit-Lieu-tenant Deere is a son of Mr J. Deere, of Wanganui.
