A sequel to; the affray in Victoria Street, Hamilton, on the night of Saturday May 25, when a visiting-side-showman, Harold Thomas Newton was shot with a shotgun was heard to day when Christopher Howe Nicholson, described as a bookmaker and shot man, answered a charge‘of d'schargi a .shotgun at Newton with the intention of doing grievous boddy barm. This charge was preferred instead o the< one' of attempted murder laid when Nicholson was arrested. Nicholson pleaded not g u “ ty a was committed to the Supreme Court for trial.
