ADDINGTON SALE. FAT SHEEP VALUES RISE. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, June 5. At the Addington stock market to-day the entries were smaller and satisfactory sales for most classes resulted. The fat sheep sale opened at Is a head increased on the prices of last week, and there was a distinct hardening in the closing stages. This sale was decidedly the best of the season. The fat cattle penning was' smaller, but prices were easier, except for the best sorts. The store sheep sale was easier, and the pig market recovered invalues. Store sheep.—Four thousand were entered, and the market showed a marked lack of interest Six and eight-tooth ewes made to 11s 6d, ewe lambs, 14s 4d, and medium sorts 10s 4d. Fat lambs. —Thirteen hundred were penned in this section and the sales showed an improvement of Is a head foy butchers’ sorts. Other values were maintained. Last week’s yarding totalled 1200. Fat sheep.—The entry of 5500 was about the same as last week, and, though there was a large proportion of poor sorts, there were some good drafts of prime stock. The increase in values at the close of the sale was up to 2s a head. Prime wethers made 32s to 34s 6d, extra good, 42s 4d; medium, 25s to 31s; lighter grades, from 23e 6d; prime ewes, 26s to 30s; best, 37s Id: ordinary sorts, 21s to 255; poorer, from 17s. Fat cattle.—Five hundred and eighty were forward, compared with the 739 of last week, as well as a large number of light cows. There was a big entry of unfinished steers. The best of the steers‘made £l4 5s to £ls 15s; extra good, £lB 12s 6d; medium grades, to £l2; lighter sorts to £8 103; good cows, £4 15s to £9 ss. Pigs.—For porkers the average price a lb was to 8d and for baconers 7d to 7id. ( ,. STORTFORD LODGE, HASTINGS. June 5 Values which were a shade dearer than last week, were secured for beef cattle at the Stortford Lodge sale. Heavy prime cows. £B. 17s 6d to £lO 7s 6d; medium weight pens. £8 2s 6d to £8 12? 6d; light sorts, £5 15s to £6 6s 6d; prime heifers, £9 7s 6d to £lO 2s 6d. Young A.A. bullocks in good order, £8 2s 6d: dehorned Herofords £8 4s. In-calf cows brought to £3 ss. Sheep.—Extra good fivc-vear ewes, 225; other breeding ewes, 13s to 18s: extra good woolly hoggets, 235; forward wether hog gets, to 19s; medium, 16s. WESTFIELD VALUES. Per Press Association - AUCKLAND, June 5. A large ox beef yarding at the Westfield stock sale sold steadily at late rates. Values improved slightly for the smaller cow offering. Extra choice ox beef made 365, choice and prime 32s to 355, prime young cow and heifer 28s to 335, and secondary 22s to 28s.
