CONGREGATIONAL GUILD.

The monthly meeting of the Congregational Ladies’ Guild was held on Tuesday afternoon. Mrs Stewart Wright (president of the missionary auxiliary) was in the chair. It being missionary afternoon, giijts were brought for the leper hospital at Gemo Island, Port Moresby. This hospital has been built by the London Missionary Society and is solely maintained by all the Congregational churches in New Zealand. After the usual devotions Mrs Eastman (a deputation of the'L.M.S. from the Gilbert Islands) spoke on the women of the islands. Her address I was listened to with wrapt attention and was most interesting and helpful, showing particularly the difference in the life and ways of the women when they became Christians. The speaker was thanked by Mrs Wright. The secretary (Mrs Nicliolls) intimated that the day of prayer promoted by the Federation of Congregational Women would be held on June 20. Mention was also made by the secretary of the need of helpers with the sewing for refugees. ’Afternoon tea was served by Mrs Claridge and Miss Rose Edwards, who were thanked by Mrs Garner. ' ,
