BEEF BUTCHERS AT WESTFIELD. Per Press Association. 1 • AUCKLAND, June 3. The beef butchers at Westfield, numbering about twenty, at the morning “smoko” to-day decided to cease work at 10 o’clock. Other members of the staff affected als.o left the premises after clearing up, but the other departments were not affected. The management stated that only 200 beasts were killed to-day, leaving 400 unslaughtered. They said the butchers’ decision came as a surprise in view of the men’s decision to reverse their original intention of having a holiday to-day.
