IN THE HOUSE.
TRIBUTES TO LEGISLATION. SECRET SESSION TO-MORROW. WELLINGTON, May 4, Tributes to former legislators who died during the last Parliamentary recess will be paid when the House of Representatives meets to-day. Resolutions embodying the sympathy of the House with the relatives will be moved by the Prime Minister. (Hon. P. Fraser, 1 ) and it-is expected that the w’lole of the afternoon will be devoted to members’ speeches concerning the life and work of former members of both Houses of Parliament. Former members of the House of Representatives, , and the Legislative Council who have died since-Parliament adjourned late last year included the late Prime Minister (Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage); Hon. J. Trevithick, M.L.C., Mr R. McCallum, a former -member of both Houses ; Mr J. S. Dickson, formerly M.P.* for Parnell; Mr J. R. Hamilton, a former member of. Parliament and a brother of the Leader of the Opposition ; Mr T. Ilenare and Mr D. McLaren, botli former members of the House. The House will adjourn as a mark of respect after tributes have been paid. - Arraugenicuts are in train for the secret session of the House to-morrow, at which members will be given full information about New Zealand’s war effort. Further details as to the procedure to be followed will be discussed today by the Prime Minister, the Leader of the Opposition, and the Speaker. The general opinion is that Ministers will give to the House details to supplement its information already made public, and that the more informative data-will be revealed in response to questions. The secret session will begin following formal business in the afternoon, and is likely to be protracted.
