WEATHER IN MAY
RAINFALL ABOVE AVERAGE. "During May, 1940, rain fell on 19 days for a total measurement of 4.35 in., tlie- heaviest daily fall being recorded on May 9 (.91in.), states Mr F. Mason, of Sandon Boad, in his monthly report. The average rainfall for May is 3.25 in., and for the first five months of 1940 the total fall was 18.46 in., compared with 6.96 in. last year. Practically throughout the month the skies were overcast. Three frosts were recorded.
