HONOURS EVEN.
THE EEILDING MATCH. A willing tussle at Johnston Park, Eeilding, between Old Boys and Eeilding Old Boys, ended in a draw, 8-all. In the first- spell rain fell and as the game progressed the ball became heavy and the ground slippery. The teams were: Eeilding Old Boys.—Gloyn, Swinbourn, O’Donnell, Dewe, Black, Waugh, Fade, Waldegravo, Rutherford, Wells, Shaw, McLeod, Jarrett, | Raven, Nicholson. i Old Boys.—Clark, Reid, Howell, | Barra.ud, Lang. Shand, Scott, McNeile, O’Dea, Geoffrey Annear, George A linear, Porter, Webber, Lewin, Me-, Queen. _ I Eeilding Old Bovs carried the play into the visitors’ territory, where a scrummage fault by the defenders gave Waugh an opportunity to register a penalty goal, which ho did. Old Boys pressed and it was only Gloyn’s good clearing shot that saved the defenders. The home side attacked strongly and Waugh featured in a movement in which Dewe sent the ball behind the Old Boys goal for Raven to get there first to score a lucky try. Gloyn converted. Features of the following play included a. fast run by Reid, who put Fcilding Old Boys on the defence. In the second half Eeilding Old Boys suffered a penalty in their own territory and Clark turned the kick to full account. Again Fcilding Old Boys were forced back ano a scrum on their goal-line ended in Porter scrambling over in score. Clark converted. "When the whis+le sounded the finish of the game Old Boys had just repulsed an attack. Clark* having cleared nicely a thrust by Waugh. The final score was: Fcilding Old Boys S, Old Boys S. Mr A. Weston was the referee.
