The play went to I the other/end. where Pollard saved for ' the visitors with a long line kick. From i within the home side’s twenty-five, Thompson made a high centring kick which was taken by "Wilson, who went , over for a nice try. Thompson’s shot at goal failed to rise. Play see-sawed

In this Rush received an injury to his knee and had to retire, Lewis replacing him. From a scrum infringement, Pye had a shot at goal from just inside half-way, the ball passing outside the post. After the the visiting forwards continually pushed the local side off the ball, hooked it from the scrums and went away in fast rushes which were very disconcerting to . the blue backs. Pye, Kitchen, Sullivan and Garlick were prominent in these movements. From an easy position, Pye failed to add further points from a penalty kick. In the closing stages Manderson ran over GO yards, after Carr had. attempted to open up the play, only to be collared short of the line. When the whistle sounded the score was; Fcilding 3, Kia Toa 0.
