INTERESTED SPECTATOR.
When the above,, letter was referred to Mr E. R. Wimsett, president of the Manawatu Boxing Association, he said 1 that the position was that no professionals were available at matching weights. Most of the professionals were in camp, and in any case they could not be compared with professional wrestlers. The wrestlers came to the country and could be easily matched, but boxers were drawn mainly from local ranks and there was difficulty now in getting suitable matches. The financial aspect bad also to be considered. The Australians mentioned in the letter would require very high purses, and the suggestion had been made in any case that they come here for matches for patriotic purposes. There were no local boys in training yet, but Mr Wimsett hoped to go into the matter and see what could be done. It was intended .to send a team to the New Zealand championships later if the boxers desired to start preparing for them. .k ;
