BOXING.

(To the Editor.) Sir, —Could you possibly let me, and also dozens more boxing enthusiasts, ■know v'hen and where the Palmerston North Boxing Association is starting its-season and where its gymnasium w'ill be. It will be seen that the relative sport has been started and has been in action about a month or more. Will the association explain w'hv it has not been able to commence ? Wrestlers are well on the road to being very fit for the Dominion championships and the boxers have not even started yet. The Wellington city and suburban gymnasiums have been open for about two months and the season inaugurated with a professional bout and also with an amateur tournament. It makes one w'onder w'hether or not the Palmerston North association ha 6 gone to sleep on the job. The New Zealand Boxing Association has received a letter from the Australian Association offering to let it have two of its American importations, namely, the “Alabama Kid” and “La Verne” gratis, 60 surely here is an opportunity, for the Palmerston North association to start the season with an excellent match. One which looks good on paper and which may not be an impossibility is between Maurice Strickland and the “Alabama Kid”; it would surely bring a bumper house and give the season a good start, paving the way for other matches w'hich Palmerstonians ahvays get when possible.—l am,: etc.,
