Mr Smithells explained the new syllabus of physical education to over 100 teachers. The t-alk was illus-trated-'with sound films showing work in various types of schools in England. Some of the films depicted a large class of 11-year-old. girls working in a big city’’ school, country children at their studies _ and modern methods of teaching games. In England, on account of the shortage of space in schools and the large influx of pupils since the Great, War, teachers had evolved a technique of teaching games so that all children could benefit, said Mr Smithells."The scheme had been conspicuously ■ successful. The.- technique consisted of using minor games and practices to build up basic skill in the national games.
