MANAWATU WINTER RACES
AWAPUNI STABLE WINS DOUBLE
AURORA’S STAR AND SLEEVELESS
At the Manawatu Racing Club’s winter meeting, which opened yesterday in dull and cold weather, there was a good attendance and some interesting racing was seen. The track was in excellent condition, the going being slightly soft. As has been the experience 'of most racing clubs, there was a decrease in the totaiisator investments, the sum handled being £15,611 10s. This is £1579 less than the total for the first day of the winter meeting last year, when £17,191 was put through.
